On 31st May 2004, Dermot Ahern, T.D., Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources officially turned on the new EUR 9 million broadband network in Galway. This represents the largest investment in communications infrastructure in the city. It is part of a larger nationwide initiative bringing broadband to towns and cities in Ireland.
